Coldpakk proudly presents its first release, the "Evening Action EP" by Finnish footwork/juke producer M.TRAZ available exclusively from the label’s Bandcamp page from September the 26th.
The opening title track is a fast paced juke affair boldly relying on disco-funk materials providing a balanced, widely accessible, fun party track for the 160 BPM matrix.
By contrast, "Roll the Kush Up" can swiflty cut its way through any record with more radical footwork aesthetics and smartly flipped gangsta-rap samples.
As an attempt to reflect the internationalist and open source ambitions of the label, the EP comes with two essential remixes from the other side of the Atlantic.
From Harvey Illinois, Teklife member KIID applies his talent and energy on the "Evening Action" remix, transforming the song into a much more straight-in-your-face roller, structured with highly entertaining intro/outro loops.
Second guest remix comes from Bronx-based and Juke Bounce Werk affiliated KUSH JONES with his Jersey club take on "Roll the Kush Up". The innovative way he flips the vocal sample with changing velocity is one of his current distinctive strength. The track strips things to their core and moves stubbornly forward with mean, pounding grooves.
Closing off the EP with one of M.Traz most recent tracks, "Yamanote" collides the harmonic and trippy alarm tone of a Tokyo subway line with the artist most juke oriented drums production to date. This track proves M.Traz fully capable of moving his softer and weirder styles into more aggressive and functional territories so everybody wins.
